A Non-Surgical skin cancer treatment that can be used to treat BCC’s and SCC’s (selective lesions.) The application of cream causes targeted skin tissue to be eliminated.
Another method of Non-Surgical skin cancer treatment with less down time compared to creams. PDT involves the use of a photo sensitising agent and a special wavelength light that destroys cancerous cells.
Often an effective treatment for small BCC’s and SCC’s. Curette is the process of shaving the effected region and the resulting wound is cauterised to minimise bleeding and prevent infection.
This involves application of local anaesthetic by a fine needle to numb the area, after which the skin cancer is removed using a scalpel. The subsequent wound is meticulously approximated.
Used where the traditional elliptical wound would potentially affect the surrounding skin from being approximated. The wound created by skin cancer removal is closed by careful manoeuvring of nearby skin.
Similar to flap surgery, where the defect is too large to approximate, a thin layer of skin (graft) is collected from other parts of the body (upper arm / thigh) and then placed on the wound.
This is a surgical procedure where a part of the skin is removed and attached with maintaining the original contour. this is done for dangerous skin cancers, especially on the lips and ears.
